The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Head ofEngineering that will develop and mentor our technical teams to deliver across our clients.
You will be responsible for supporting the growth and performance of team members and ensuring teams are supported and empowered to achieve their goals. You will lead two or three engineering teams and will work closely with leadership across Product, Architecture, Delivery and Client Services.
Reporting into the CTO, you will work with leaders across Xiatech to design and drive the engineering strategy for our Xfuze platform.

Key Responsibilities
People, Coaching & Mentoring
Line-manage a large engineering team through regular one-to-ones, quarterly reviews, and performance check-ins.
Ensure Engineers receive the training they need to perform effectively across projects, frameworks, tools and software.
Provide Engineers with clear career development pathways through training and progression planning.
Guide, coach and mentor Engineers
Support recruitment processes to attract, assess and onboard top engineering talent.
Best Practices & Adherence to Standards
Design, implement and champion consistent engineering practices across teams.
Collaborate with the Head of Delivery to ensure Engineers follow best delivery methodologies (Agile or Waterfall).
Drive continuous improvement of departmental and company engineering standards.
Uphold ISO27001 compliance and embed robust security practices across engineering activities.
Delivery
Empower Engineers to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within scope.
Proactively identify and resolve project issues and risks before they escalate.
Partner with Client Services to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain strong client relationships.
Ensure projects are well-defined, structured, and progressing healthily.
Support and assist teams in overcoming delivery challenges.
Your Knowledge & Experience
Solid foundation in software development, ideally with prior hands-on experience as a Developer/Engineer.
Strong understanding of data-rich, large-scale system architectures and the challenges they present.
Expertise in solution integration and API design.
Proficient in data and analytics, with practical knowledge of cloud platforms.
Familiar with multiple delivery methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
Experience building and delivering robust SaaS/PaaS products to customers.
Background in scale-up businesses, with an appreciation of maturity, quality, security, and support requirements.
Over 5 years of software and/or data engineering experience, including at least 2 years managing cross-functional engineering teams.
Demonstrated ability in performance management and career development for technical staff.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to align technology strategy with business, market, and industry needs to drive critical platform development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven success in influencing stakeholders, negotiating effectively, and delivering compelling presentations.
Ability to quickly grasp business and customer needs, while balancing technical challenges and solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills, capable of simplifying complex situations into practical solutions.
Highly skilled in coordination and communication, ensuring clarity across teams.
Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused, with a track record of resolving issues efficiently.
